Thinking of getting a summer internship? No pressure, but you need to start looking right now. The popular ones are competitive – even ranked, like schools. Many have early application deadlines and/or lengthy interview processes. So you need plenty of time to do the research, prepare your resume and iron your suit.

Universities, students tackle the challenging job market
The wobbly state of the economy is on a lot of minds. For college students, that means preparing yourself for the volatile landscape. For educators, it means providing tools and all means necessary to meet this challenge head on. Local colleges and universities are offering their students and alumni expert assistance in their job hunt.

Journalism programs have new media covered
The new media phenomenon has breathed new life into the field of journalism. Instead of dying out, it's branching out, embracing new gadgets and technologies and reaching more audiences via social media. We asked several local J-schools what's exciting and new, and how they're preparing students for the media landscape of tomorrow.
Columbia College faculty member Lillian Williams works with a student. The college is known for it's innovative programs for journalists including two new offerings: Mobile Journalism and New Roles for Journalists.
